Sight Seeing

Scenic Byway

riverside
Delaware County is the Northern Gateway to the Upper Delaware Scenic Byway — New York State Route 97 — which traverses a scenic 70-mile stretch of the Delaware River from Hancock to Port Jervis, NY.
This scenic drive will take you past county eateries, art galleries, museums, theaters, antique shops and general stores; all surrounded by undulating hills, long valley vistas and rock cut landscapes.

Motorcycle magazines cite Route 97 as being one of the best riding roads in the Northeast Region, and portions of Route 97 are National Park Service designated as Bike Route 17 for bicycling enthusiasts. The nationally-renowned Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River, which largely parallels the highway, offers numerous accesses for fishing and boating.

Eagle Sightings

riverside
There are an estimated 200 eagles that call the Upper Delaware River home during the winter months. Depending on weather conditions, the eagles begin arriving in mid-December. By mid-March, many eagles begin the return flight to their breeding areas located to the north, though each year we find more and more eagles remaining year round, building their nests and raising their young in the Upper Delaware Region.
Guided river tours for eagle and wildlife viewing can be arranged through East Branch Outfitters, or simply enjoy a drive up scenic byway Route 97 and keep an eye out!

Please be respectful of nature and your safety. Do not feed or approach wild animals.
